Titel: Failed disks
Beitrag von: alexbcf am 11.März 2013, 20:20:32
Hi guys,

I am having a server with EUserv with 4 disks (hardware RAID 5), the last year I seem to have had 4 to 5 disk failings.

Given the large number of failures, I would like your advice on how I could "see" that a disk is about to fail and take the necessary measures to be safe.

Also when they fail how could I detect it?

I have been speaking with the support for about a month now, suggesting me to use tools like smartctl and tw_cli, but until today (my server crashes every hour), I have not been given a clear answer.

tw_cli shows that the RAID runs fine.
But smartctl, gives errors on one disk and the test never completes on another one.

Update: I re-run the test and it completed!
So I guess now all I need to do is replace that one disk and rebuild the RAID, right?

Thanks a lot ,
Alex
